Project Background In May 2026, Hailos successfully completed the delivery of customized 12.5kW In-Row precision air conditioning units for PT GSPE, a prominent technology and infrastructure services provider in Jakarta, Indonesia.


The customer operates a specialized small-scale data center facility catering to critical enterprise IT workloads. As part of a targeted infrastructure modernization program, PT GSPE planned to upgrade the cooling capacity of their existing server room to improve thermal stability and support high-density server deployments.

The Challenge Unlike newly constructed facilities, retrofit projects in established urban centers like Jakarta often face severe physical space constraints.


During the site survey at PT GSPE, the technical team identified a critical challenge: the data center room was exceptionally narrow. The aisle pathways between the server racks were so restricted that installing conventional front-discharge In-Row air conditioners was impossible. Standard units would not only block technician access but also fail to distribute air effectively to the server intakes due to the lack of "throw" distance in the tight corridors.


Using traditional cooling equipment would have required significant structural changes to the room or a complete redesign of the rack layout, leading to prohibitive costs and prolonged operational downtime.

Hailos Solution To address these extreme space limitations, Hailos proposed a highly customized cooling solution featuring three 12.5kW In-Row precision air conditioners (Model L12-5P) with lateral air discharge configurations.


Instead of the standard front-facing airflow, Hailos engineered specific units to discharge air from the sides:

  • Left-side discharge and Right-side discharge units were deployed to target specific hot spots along the perimeter.
  • A unique Dual-side (Left + Right) discharge unit was positioned between two rows of servers, allowing a single machine to provide balanced cooling for two server rows simultaneously.

This lateral discharge approach provided several key advantages:

  • Optimized Airflow in Narrow Spaces: Cold air is delivered directly into the server intakes from the sides, bypassing the need for wide aisles.
  • Space-Saving Efficiency: By cooling two rows with one unit (Left + Right), the customer maximized server rack density.
  • Advanced Performance: Equipped with EC fans and inverter compressors, the units provide precise, energy-efficient temperature and humidity control.
  • Seamless Integration: Supports Modbus communication for remote monitoring within the existing facility management system.

Project Results Following installation and commissioning by the local technical team, the new precision cooling system successfully transformed the thermal management of PT GSPE’s data center.

Key benefits achieved include:

  • Reliable Cooling in Restricted Aisle Widths: Overcoming the physical barrier of a narrow room without structural modifications.
  • Balanced Temperature Distribution: Simultaneous cooling of two server rows via lateral discharge.

  • Zero Disruption: The customization allowed for a rapid retrofit that did not impact the ongoing operation of critical IT equipment.


The project demonstrated how Hailos' ability to customize airflow patterns can solve the most difficult installation challenges in modern data center environments.

Why Lateral Air Discharge Matters As data center operators move toward higher density in smaller footprints, traditional airflow models are no longer sufficient. Ultra-narrow corridors and high-density rack configurations require cooling systems that can adapt to the room, rather than requiring the room to adapt to the equipment.
